Beannachtaí na Cásca ón bPríomhoide

A letter from the Principal
03-Aibreán-20

Litir chuig pobal na scoile/A letter to the school Community

A Chairde,

Beannachtaí na Cásca oraibh agus tá súil againn go bhfuil sibh ar fad ar fónamh.

Tá muid ag scríobh chugaibh lenár mbuíochas a ghabháil libh as ucht bhur gcomhoibriú le linn na héigeandála seo. Tá ardmholadh tuillte ag na múinteoirí, ag na daltaí agus ag na tuismitheoirí atá tar éis na modhanna nua foghlama a ghlacadh chucu féin go fonnmhar. Tuigeann muid go raibh sé seo dúshlánach agus go raibh roinnt fadhbanna tosaigh againn ach tá gach iarracht déanta leis na deacrachtaí seo a réiteach. Tuigtear go bhfuil deacracht faoi leith ag roinnt daltaí fáil a bheith acu ar ríomhaire go háirithe má tá an ríomhaire á roinnt le siblíní nó le tuismitheoirí atá ag obair ón mbaile. Tá ualach mór oibre ar mhúinteoirí chomh maith atá ag ceartú cáipéisí atá ag teacht isteach go minic i bhfoirm grianghraif seachas i ndoiciméad gur féidir leo aiseolas a scríobh air. Leis an méid sin ráite, ón aiseolas atá faighte ó mhúinteoirí tá sé soiléir go bhfuil formhór na ndaltaí ag obair go dian agus go bhfuil an-iarracht déanta acu.

Tá sé i gceist againn sos a thabhairt ón obair bhaile atá á sheoladh amach do shaoire na Cásca. Cuirfidh múinteoirí daltaí Bhliain 3 agus 6 ar an eolas maidir le dul siar le linn an bhrisidh. Sa chás go gcuirtear síneadh le dúnadh na scoileanna tar éis bhriseadh na Cásca, leanfaimid ar aghaidh leis an chianfhoghlaim agus leagfar plean amach le scrúduithe an tSamhraidh ar líne a chur i dtoll a chéile do Bhliain 1,2,4 agus 5.

Tuigtear dúinn go bhfuil ualach faoi leith ar Bhliain 3 agus ar Bhliain 6 agus caithfidh go bhfuil sé deacair oraibh an móiminteam a choinneáil suas leis an éiginnteacht atá ann faoi láthair maidir leis na Scrúduithe Stáit. Ní féidir linn ach moladh daoibh iarracht a dhéanamh leanúint leis an sprioc go mbeidh na Scrúduithe Stáit ar siúl i mí an Mheithimh go dtí go gcloisfear a mhalairt ón Aire Oideachais. Guíonn muid gach rath oraibh san obair seo agus is cinnte go mbeidh pé socrú a dhéanfar amach anseo ar bhur leasa.

Tá sé tábhachtach chomh maith go leanann sibh treoracha an rialtais maidir le scaradh sóisialta agus go bhfanann sibh sa bhaile. Le cabhrú libh fanacht folláin agus aclaí tá roinnt moltaí ón Roinn Corpoideachais ceangailte leis an ríomhphost seo. Tugann an tréimhse éigeandála seo deis daoibh triail a bhaint as caitheamh aimsire nua a fhorbairt, breis léitheoireachta a dhéanamh agus teagmháil ar líne nó ar an ghuthán a dhéanamh le seantuismitheoirí nó daoine eile atá ag mothú aonraithe mar thoradh ar an scarúint sóisialta.

Idir an dá linn tabhair aire daoibh féin agus do bhur muintir agus coinnígí na daoine uilig atá ag fulaingt mar thoradh ar an víreas seo in bhur smaointe agus in bhur bpaidreacha.

Easter greetings and we hope you are all well.

We are writing to you to convey our thanks for your cooperation during this emergency. The teachers, students and parents deserve great praise for the way they have embraced the new teaching methods introduced recently. We understand the challenges that this presented and have strived to resolve any initial teething problems. We are aware that it is difficult for some students to have regular access to a computer particularly if the device is shared with siblings or in use by parents who are working from home. Teachers have also faced difficulty correcting large volumes of work which are often sent to them as photographs rather than in a document that can be edited and corrected. However, it is obvious from feedback received from teachers that the vast majority of the girls have been working hard and are making good progress.

As the Easter break approaches we intend to take a break and will not be issuing any additional work to students during this time. Teachers teaching 3rd and 6th Year students will advise them regarding revision topics that they should study during the Easter break. In the event that the school remains closed after the Easter holidays, the distance learning programme will recommence and a plan will be put in place regarding online Summer exams for 1,2,4 and 5th Year Students.

We understand that the present situation places a huge burden on 3rd and 6th Year students and that it must be difficult to keep the momentum going in these times of uncertainty regarding the State Examinations. All that we can advise is that you continue to work with the deadline of State Exams in June as a target until you hear otherwise from the Minister of Education. We wish you well with your study plan and are certain that any future arrangement regarding the State Exams will be made with your best interests at heart.

It is of the upmost importance that you adhere to Government guidelines regarding social distancing and that you remain at home until further instructions. The P.E Department in the school have put together a wellbeing and fitness plan which is attached to this email. This emergency also presents us with the opportunity to develop new hobbies, read more books and keep in contact via social media with grandparents or others that may be feeling isolated as a consequence of social distancing.

In the meantime, take good care of yourselves and your families and we will keep all those that are suffering at this time in our thoughts and prayers.

Le gach dea-ghuí,

Seán Delap - Príomhoide

Mícheál Ó Madagáin - Cathaoirleach an Bhoird Bhainistíochta
